Cloud CRM Systems Make Sense for Small Businesses

customer service

The word CRM has been mauled over the internet and there are many products that claim to be CRM systems when in reality they are nothing more than a locally hosted database.

A good CRM system should allow your business to streamline customer relationship management and promote collaborative sharing of customer/ sales information between employees. This enhances staff output and enables high quality customer service. A good example is DIMENSION CRM, which gives the user an easy to use yet cleverly structured space to manage their customers and easily track sales activity.

CRM small business products can drastically increase earnings per person as well as improve lead conversion rates. Smart online CRMs such as DIMENSION enhance client retention and encompass processes that lead to an increase in profits. A good CRM is not just a component of your sales process, it can help define and support your long term business strategy.

Why should I choose a cloud based solution?

With the birth of cloud based hosting came a frenzy of web based applications. It’s understandable why the uptake was so rapid when you look at the convenience, accessibility and lower cost of ownership that web based applications bring to large and small business. It allows small businesses to have access to software that was previously cost prohibitive. Cloud based applications are also scalable, growing with your business over time.

The Magical Mixture

As discussed, CRM offers many advantages to your small business, however choosing a cloud based CRM solution will give you even more, such as:

  • You don’t need to rely on hardware or systems techies for uptime. Let the CRM provider worry about that.
  • Access from anywhere, all you need is an internet connection
  • Lower cost of ownership
  • Typically no long term commitment is required as would be with a server based product.
  • Minimal set up and training costs: a good cloud based CRM solution should be intuitive in the way it works and offer online tutorial videos/ FAQ’s that assist you with the set up process. (chose one like DIMENSION that has this feature)

All great points; there's more to managing small businesses through software though.

Many SMBs are department-less. For example SEO companies or graphic design solutions. These types of businesses go with a very similar approach to management; secure sales, finish projects, bill client. Yet these businesses have to manage say 3 separate applications to complete these processes. Despite how good a CRM is, while working on projects in their project management tool they have to jump over to their CRM tool every time they want to reference contact information - not to mention the worry about double entry (especially in finances).

Simplifying the management process for SMBs would mean simplifying these software. WORKetc does a great job of this, it's a combination of CRM, PM, and billing - users manage their entire business under one system. No integrations, no high monthly costs, no training temporary staff 3 different apps for a days work. It's intuitive, allows collaboration on all three of these separate aspects of work, and has an amazing workflow. In my opinion, that's how the small businesses should be managing themselves.
